A little about me

Hi, my name is Lucia Povalacova. I was born in Myjava (Slovakia). My star sign is Aries. Karate formed an underlying part of my childhood. I became interested in Martial Arts after watching several action movies, starring legends such as Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal and Bruce Lee. Their technical prowess and physical abilities have always fascinated me and I then find it hard not to pay close attention to the film in its entirety. I yearn to become as talented as they are (from a woman's point of view of course).

I first started my training when I was in university, at a club, known as Hanko kai, which is located in Senica where I used to live. After a few years I started to do well when finally achieved my first award I became focussed and motivated with regards to my future study of the Art. Now that I was focussed and certain of what I could achieve I set my sights on the bigger picture (large competitions). Sports such as this inevitably involve injuries and losses but I truly believe that these disappointments are a fundamental part of growth and development. Most importantly however Karate teaches us not to give up when the first sign of defeat arises . It is important to set yourself a goal and work towards it in stages. Short goals based on a few months training are ideal for starters as they lead usually lead to the long term dreams. In 2002, due to unfavourable circumstances, I left Senica and continued my study / training in Banska Bystrica.

At the time Banska Bystrica was the principle representative of Karate in Slovakia, which inevitably subjected me to a challenging environment. The requirements of the instructors at Banska Bystrica, although taxing, allowed me to quickly improve my technical and physical abilities. The decision to move and study in Banska Bystrica was probably the most difficult decision I have ever had to make, but it was a necessary one, as it allowed me to progress further in the Art of Karate. It was not until I studied under the guidance of Karate Coach, J. Poliak, that I truly fulfilled my greatest ambitions.

Like any sports person I have had to sacrifice a lot in order to maintain my study of karate. Even though times have been hard my results and achievements have made the sacrifice worthwhile. I believe that I now encompass everything I need to progress even further as mentally I feel that I have the ability to be courageous. I will never be deterred from my goals and will continue to work on my inner prowess. Karate, the art of hand to hand combat, is what I believe to be the fundamental pillar of my existence and nothing will ever discourage me from continuing my studies.

At present I live, train and work in Great Britain. I am a happy but also crazy women, who enjoys having fun at every opportunity. Ideally I seek to inspire everyone around me and maintain the free flowing of positive vibes, which is why I constantly wear a smile and often make a clown of myself in front of my mates.

... motto:
""In order to wake up each morning knowing that you own miraculous powers you have to know that such powers exist and must endeavour to find them."
